I realized last week I hadn’t made my usual seasonal playlist for summer 2021. Typically, at the start of each season, I begin adding the songs that catch my attention to a specific playlist. The result is several years’ worth of place-in-time emotional time capsules. If I want to commit an act of emotional terrorism on myself, I’ll listen to Spring 2020. While this summer is certainly not as far removed from spring 2020 as we’d like, it does feel more calm, more at ease with our collective situation. We know what to do now. We’ve got the good masks. We know we’re capable of doing hard things for the greater good. We feel lucky for our health and maybe a little more clear on what really matters to us. Or, at least, I hope you feel those things along with me.
So, allow me to be the acolyte of the vibe for you tonight. We start out folksy and get increasingly soulful before going electronic, but the theme is the same throughout: Love. Have you ever been in love? I haven’t, but I am starting to grow my capacity by practicing on myself.
I hope you enjoy.
I love you.
Until next week,
Elizabeth
