This newsletter is coming to you a little later than usual because I hocked my art at a small artisan market this evening. I made a little lunch money and felt a jolt of excitement for gift-giving season as customers breathlessly told me about who they’d bought they art for and why that person was going to LOVE my deranged work. Their selections felt so intentional and loving, a purchase made from a place of glee rather than obligation or convenience.
In this spirit and ahead of Black Friday, I want to share another gem from my favorite ethical consumption resource, the Clotheshorse podcast. Host Amanda recently put out an entire episode dedicated to the concept of Slow Gifting, and she’s since been breaking down the 12 Days of Slow Gifting on Instagram and on the Clotheshorse website. We’re currently on Day Nine, the tips up to which I’ve listed below Give Clotheshorse a follow for the last 3 tips!
Day One: Get to know Slow Gifting! Here’s a whole podcast episode about it!
Day Five: Gifts That Aren’t Stuff
Day Seven: Destroy the Myth of Free Shipping
Day Eight: %@$& Black Fridayyyyyyyyyy!
Day Nine: Give People What They Want
Why is the podcast episode titled “A Hard Pass on the Humping Dog?” You’ll have to listen and find out!
Until next week,
Elizabeth
